Why Choose to Test In-Person?

In my last article  I discussed the legality of remote testing and how it started. Now that Covid is in the rearview mirror, many home schoolers have returned to in-person group testing. Both testing virtual and in-person platforms satisfy Oregon testing requirements.

So why choose in-person testing? For one, many parents feel their children already have enough screen time as it is. Why add one more virtual activity when another option is available? Getting out of the house, driving to a familiar location, and taking the test with friends all factor in the decision to test in person. The ritual of testing in this way marks the end (or nearly the end) of the school year. Many students adapt the attitude that after “showing what they know” on the test, they can start to relax and begin summer vacation.

Basic Skills offers in-person group testing at various locations in Oregon and Washington. In most cases, the test coordinator and the examiner are one and the same person. Below are in-person group testing opportunities, listed by city, in Oregon as of the writing of this article:

To sign your student up for one of the above in-person group tests, contact the test coordinator using the contact information provided.
