About Jilene Modlin M.Ed.

After a decade of teaching at the School for the Deaf, Jilene brought her broader skills with learning disabilities and processing disorders into the homeschool world. As she began homeschooling her own children, Jilene found families needing developmentally appropriate support and guidance. She began working with parents needing support in developing alternative education curriculum or programs. Currently, in additional to writing PDP’s, she also provides achievement testing. Her specialty being students needing exceptional support or accommodations during the exam.

Jilene has worked with students in hybrid-homeschool programs, students transitioning from traditional education into homeschooling, and students launching from homeschooling into early college or career. Additionally, she developed the Oregon Homeschool Science Club at OMSI, working with OMSI to direct a program designed for homeschooling families.

Jilene recently completed a doctorate degree. Her Doctoral dissertation focused on homeschooling resources for twice-exceptional (gifted and special education) students. Outside of her professional responsibilities,  Jilene spends time with her family kayaking, playing the cello, supporting Deaf Ministry, knitting, and walking with her Boston Terrier.
